About the Author

Clarice learns from every experience in life. Some of the characters in this book are inspired by real people and animals. Ms. Ardys is based on Clarice’s mother and a special high school journalism teacher. Both of these extraordinary women were wise, kind, and strong. They sparked Clarice’s creativity and writing capabilities. Orie and Ding are based on Clarice’s family’s pets. Clarice’s cat lost his front right limb to cancer, and her dog was the best friend who helped the cat recover. Aunt Sophia’s chocolate chip cookie recipe is courtesy of Clarice’s daughter. Clarice is blessed to have a loving family and many treasured friends. Clarice hopes you enjoy this book and encourages you to bake the cookies as a way to connect with others, especially if they are different from you.
