Troubled Times: Defying Obedience, Embracing Hope in the Face of Adversity

Frances and her two sisters endured a harrowing childhood under the oppressive rule of Catholic nuns in Northern Ireland from the tender age of two. Their lives were marred by unspeakable abuse, chronicled in Frances's first book, The Orphanage.

Now, in this poignant sequel, Frances recounts her journey after escaping the confines of the convent at just fifteen years old. Finally liberated from her living nightmare, she grapples with the overwhelming sense of freedom and the daunting task of building a life outside the walls of her torment.

Stripped of self-esteem and lacking essential life skills, Frances faces the daunting prospect of forging her own path. Yet, despite the odds stacked against her, she dares to dream of a brighter future. But as she steps into the unknown, she is confronted with the stark reality of being 'farmed out' to a devout Catholic family, where obedience is paramount.

Join Frances as she navigates the treacherous waters of post-convent life in 1969, battling fear and uncertainty while clinging to hope. “Troubled Times” is a compelling tale of resilience, survival, and the indomitable human spirit.
