Truck Stop Chaplain Handbook

Highways may be built for commerce, but they are also pathways for compassion.

The Truck Stop Chaplain Handbook is a practical and spiritual field guide for ministers who bring God’s presence to the people who keep the world moving.

Written by Henry Reyenga, founder of Christian Leaders Ministries, this handbook equips volunteer, part-time, and full-time chaplains to serve effectively at truck stops, travel centers, rest areas, and roadside ministries. It combines theology, Scripture, pastoral skills, and practical tools to help chaplains embody Christ’s love in the fast-paced, high-pressure world of transportation.

From building relationships with drivers and staff to leading worship in unconventional spaces, this book shows that ministry isn’t confined to pulpits—it’s multiplied wherever people pause.

Each chapter integrates Ministry Sciences principles—connecting spiritual discernment with real-world application—and includes:

• Biblical foundations for mobile and incarnational ministry
• Crisis care, grief response, and emotional first aid
• Worship, communion, and holiday service templates
• Practical ministry kits and readiness checklists
• 25 themed Scripture toolboxes and 25 prayer models
• A 365-day “Road Through the Word” Bible reading plan
• Reflections and devotionals for soul care and chaplain renewal

This handbook also includes commissioning prayers, devotionals, and ministry reflections to help chaplains grow in character, compassion, and courage.

Whether you are a volunteer chaplain praying with a driver at midnight, a church leader starting a truck stop outreach, or a believer exploring your call to ministry, this book will remind you of a timeless truth:
