The True Story of the Greatest Escape You've Never Heard of

On April 4, 1943, ten American prisoners of war and two Filipino convicts, survivors of the infamous Bataan Death March and the fall of Corregidor, accomplished the most impossible mission of World War II. They would be the only large-scale group of Allied POWs to escape from Imperial Japanese forces in the Pacific. The first of these true American heroes to put this incredible story—soon to be called "The Greatest Story of the War in the Pacific" by the U.S. War Department—into words was then-Lt. Jack Hawkins, USMC. Thanks to wartime censorship restrictions, the existence of this manuscript was known only to a small handful of high-ranking government and military officials for the past seventy-five years. Now, for the first time ever, you have a chance to read one of the most important documents to come out of World War II.
