The Truth of Chasing Rainbows

Real, raw, and emotionally stirring, The Truth of Chasing Rainbows follows an ordinary suburban woman’s unpredictable journey toward a new sense of freedom. In pursuit of a mid-life adventure, far from the conveniences and trappings of a North American lifestyle, she dares to imagine something different—something more.

Anne Beaudoin’s bold decision to leave everything that was familiar tests the boundaries of her fate when she immerses herself in a tiny rural community tucked in the remote mountains of Costa Rica. Beaudoin weaves us through the joys and tribulations of moving to a Spanish-speaking country while co-owning a natural trout farm and a rustic bed and breakfast—with zero experience.

This witty, fast-paced memoir will strike a chord among adventure-seekers and daydreamers wishing to satiate the desire to tread outside their comfort zones.

Desperate to escape a soul-draining suburban lifestyle, Canadian writer and author Anne Beaudoin dared to chase a dream. Settling in the remote mountains of Costa Rica, Anne immersed herself as an expat where she wrote and maintained a five-year blog and shared her adventures of becoming a trout farmer and bed-and-breakfast host with armchair seekers and fellow travellers alike. Anne is a graduate of the Sheridan College Creative Writing Program and a co-songwriter of "Great Blue" on Alise Marlane's Stillness Hold On album. Between life's many adventures, she has worked mainly in the graphic design field. When she is not writing, Anne loves family game nights, hiking, and transforming a vintage 1984 Dodge Ram Roadtrek II - affectionately called Stan - into an awesome road-tripping van.
