The Truth About Love: a Proposed Sexual Morality Based Upon the Doctrine of Evolution, and Recent Discoveries in Medical Science

The Truth About Love: A Proposed Sexual Morality Based Upon The Doctrine Of Evolution, And Recent Discoveries In Medical Science by Benno Loewy. This work presents a polemical, dialogic exploration of sexuality through a Darwinian, secular lens. It rejects teleological designs of God or nature and argues for a science-based reconstruction of social institutions around the sexual relation. The author contends that current mores—monogamy, prostitution, and marriage laws—fail to reflect the facts of human sexuality and offspring. Drawing on historical examples and literary references, the text advocates a form of “organized” or “subordinated” love that can accommodate variations such as polyamory, polyandry, and the needs of travelers and the educated elite. It envisions reforms such as recognizing prostituted women as socially legitimate workers, establishing physician-supervised assignation-houses, and promoting stirpiculture and even voluntary castration for the sake of human progress. The work critiques religion and champions a future where sexuality serves society and the race.
