About the Authors

Theodore Waddell is a Montana painter and sculptor who divides his time between studios in Sheridan, Montana, and Hailey, Idaho. For many years, he ran ranches in south-central Montana, where he raised Black Angus cattle, hay, and grain. Ted knows animals well and, though he no longer ranches, he cannot miss a day without including cattle, horses, or sheep in almost every painting he creates.

Ted has illustrated three other books for young readers—Tucker Gets Tuckered (2006), Tucker's Seasonal Words of Wisdom (2015), and Tucker Tees Up (2016)—all starring the beloved Bernese Mountain Dogs he raises with his wife, writer and photographer Lynn Campion.

In 2015, Ted was honored with the Montana Governor's Award for the Arts, and he is the subject of the 2017 book, Theodore Waddell: My Montana—Paintings & Sculpture, 1959–2016.

Ted Beckstead is a writer, artist, and self-professed Jack-of-all-trades who has spent much of his life working in the fine art business in New York City. He has also worked as an entrepreneur, salesman, papermaker, teacher, and foreign expert for an international radio station in Beijing, China, which is where he wrote Tucker Gets Tuckered, his first children's book.
