About the Author
The author spent 25 years with the Michigan StatePolice initially assigned to the Northville Post in Northville, Michigan, wherehe learned the methods of effective patrol and investigation. State troopers in Michigan handle most oftheir own investigations unlike many other police departments where the roadofficers turn over many, if not all of their cases, to the detectives. A great deal is learned from handling aninvestigation from beginning to end. Investigative skills were honed to a fine edge, but it was the peopleskills that were learned and refined that became an indispensable tool in his arrayof options to effectively deal with the variety of situations thrown at him ona daily basis.
While working as a trooper, the author attended theDetroit College of Law in the evenings, (now Michigan State University Schoolof Law in East Lansing, Michigan) earning his Juris Doctorate Degree (commonlyknown as a law degree). He instructed criminal and civil law coursesto MSP, local and tribal police officers for over 18 years. He rose through the ranks in variouspositions including, the Uniform Division, Training Division, NarcoticsDivision, Executive Division, Fire Marshal, and Technical Solutions Divisionbefore retiring from the department, having attained the rank ofInspector. He maintained a steadfastgoal of working to assist others rather than seeking personal gain orrecognition.
Upon retiring from the MSP the author earned his Ph.D.degree, in Public Affairs and Administration, from Western MichiganUniversity. Tueboris the author's second book, the first being a criminal law overview that wasused by police academy students in Michigan.
