Luis Carlos Montalván is an award-winning author, 17-year veteran of the US Army and a vocal advocate. Captain Montalván served multiple combat tours in the Iraq War and was decorated with numerous awards including two Bronze Stars, the Purple Heart, the Army Commendation Medal for Valor, and the Combat Action Badge.
In 2007, Captain Montalván honorably departed the military and in 2010 completed a master's of science from Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism. Luis' writing has been featured in The New York Times, Washington Post, San Francisco Chronicle, and The International Herald Tribune, and he and Tuesday, his beloved service dog, regularly appear on local, national and global media.
