Alan Turing is often called the father of modern computing. During World War II, he worked at Bletchley Park, where top secret work was carried out to decipher the military codes used by Germany and its allies. Turing played a pivotal role in cracking intercepted coded messages that enabled the Allies to defeat the Nazis in many crucial engagements, and his work was vital in helping the Allies win the war.

Sales of this book support the work of The Turing Trust, the charity set up by Alan's family in his memory to provide much needed computer equipment to schools in sub-Saharan Africa.

Dermot Turing graduated from King's College Cambridge and New College Oxford. He is the nephew of Alan Turing, a former trustee of Bletchley Park and author of the latest biography on Turing (Prof: Alan Turing Decoded, published in 2015 by The History Press).
