Turning Points in History: Pack D of 6: The Fall of Saigon / Abolition of Slavery 1863 / the Invention of the Silicon Chip / Understanding DNA / Votes . for Women / Assassination of J.F. Kennedy

A pack of six titles examining major historical watersheds. The turning points covered are: the fall of Saigon; the abolition of slavery in 1863; the invention of the silicon chip; understanding DNA; votes for women; and assassination of J.F. Kennedy. Each title recounts the chain of events leading up to an event, and the repercussions, both immediate and long-term. It also evaluates the concept of a turning point, assessing in what way each event really was one. The volumes are designed to be thought-provoking, but their approach is direct and seeks to embrace the views of ordinary people. They tie in with the National Curriculum and feature photographs, reproductions of source materials, eyewitness boxes, and glossaries and indices.
