Twelve Dogs: A Tale of Tails...

TWELVE DOGS is a fresh and funny autobiographical fantasy featuring dogs and their friendships with humans. What if you could contract to have dogs share your lifetime on earth? What if that relationship was the key to everything else? This unique, genre-bending "Tale of Tails" will captivate all dog lovers. But it is also the story of the mother of a schizophrenic daughter, a heart-breaking account of nightmarish hospitalizations, assaults on police officers, violence in the home, and the enduring capacity to forgive. Each dog's personality unfolds with adventures and mishaps, as they dialogue with God about wisdom, faith, love, and self-acceptance. They also ask questions of God, whose appearance reflects their owner's during the particular lifetime they shared. Why go on walks to poop away from the lair, then bring it home in a plastic bag? Why does the subject put smelly cosmetics and perfumes on her own body, but not allow them to wallow in and bring home the enticing smells they encounter? Why do some humans allow "kisses", but others don't? It is a fantasy, but anyone who has truly loved a dog has wondered: is it possible my d-o-g was sent by G-o-d?

Ann Spier has always had a dog in her life, except when she was in college and graduate school. She sang operas and taught on the college campus. She was broker-owner of real estate offices and operations manager of an investment company. She traveled the world singing and teaching, but throughout, she wrote: children's books, plays, adult books, mysteries, sci fi and fantasy, diaries, letters, whatever captured her interest. But her favorite subject was and will remain her beloved dogs.
