This workbook charts a clear course for your faculty. New teachers learn how to build their careers on a solid foundation, while experienced faculty members renew the excitement and commitment that led them to teaching in the first place. The book is written in a step-by-step, hands-on workbook format from a teacher-oriented perspective. It proposes a self-evaluation approach directed by (not at) the teacher. The ultimate goal is focused, effective teachers who understand how they can best help their students succeed, and who can "keep their edge" year after year.

About the Author
Walker Buckalew has been involved with research in the areas of renewal, performance, health, and stress for more than 20 years. In 1995, he started a process on Meaningful Faculty Evaluation that he offered through a firm of his own. This process is now one of Independent School Management's consulting services. Walker brings with him years of experience in education, having been a teacher and administrator in public schools, an associate professor of education at St. Lawrence University (NY), and director of both the Kellogg Foundation Behavioral Health Project and the Reynolds Foundation Minority Health Project at the University of North Carolina-Asheville. Before joining ISM, Walker served as Chief Operating Officer, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and President of Cumberland University (TN), where he worked effectively with a 42-member Board. Walker earned his MEd and PhD degrees from the University of Wyoming and his BA from Duke University (NC).
