This venerable cookbook has been around the block and is quite worn to the cover edges, the covers are darkened and stained, there are notations in pencil and pen recording recipes here and there, the pages edges anre toned, some fraying to head and foot of spine panel, Accpetable only used copy; lacking the dust jacket. Putty coloured cloth with image of sauce pan in black with curling steam in red enclosing the title, 320pp, B&W illus to each page dividing the different sections with a homily. "Boiling water is a very important desideratum un the aking of a good cup of coffee or tea, but the average housewife is very apt to overlook this fact. Do not boil the water for more than 3 or 4 minutes; longer boiling ruins the water for coffee or tea-making, as most of its ntaural properties escape by evaporation, leaving very insipid liquid, composed of mostly lime and ron, that would ruin the best coffee, and give the tea a dark, dead, look, when it ought to be the reverse."
