Two Discourses Preached Before the University of Cambridge, on Commencement Sunday, July 1, 1810: And a Sermon Preached Before the Society for . 1810; To Which Are Added, Christian Resear

This book provides an early 19th-century glimpse into the dark heart of paganism in the East, precisely in India at the temple of Juggernaut. The author, an ardent Christian missionary, describes the bloody and lustful nature of the dark and gruesome rituals associated with this ancient and widespread form of idolatry. The book lays the foundation for an understanding of the role of colonialism, Christianity, and power dynamics in shaping colonial India. The author goes on to describe further instances of moral and religious darkness among the various factions of Hindu and Roman Catholic communities, highlighting the urgent need for Christian light to penetrate these dark places.
