Fourth edition of one and third edition, second series of the other. 32mo (3 3/4 x 4 /12 inches each). 24 pp. of text to each volume. The first volume has a color frontispiece of two lace collars and the book contains the instructions for making them. The same is true for the second volume but there are two color frontispieces with four lace collars and their attendant instructions. Both with publisher's elaborately colored wrappers. Long strips that looked like parts of handmade lace were sold in the local stores. These could be arranged in a pattern and hand stitched together with needle and thread. All the Ladies Magazines of the day had directions for collars and other garment accessories. Names similar to the old laces were given to these lace constructs" (Portland Lace Society). I can hear the audience yelling "Enough!".…
