Item description from seller

[NONE] 1968. (hardcover) Very good in very good dust jacket. 152pp. 8vo. The record of the authors' (3 others Canadians also attended) month long visit to the People's Republic of China in 1960, first published in French in 1961 and this translation then issued by Oxford University Press. The two had been restricted to visits to all the 'model' schools, farms, factories, (the show and development theatre). Both men knew this was propaganda all for show and were aware of the contradictions that the Chinese government hoped were obscured, but had no opportunity to see anything else. Jacket shows light markings and moderate wear, but remains intact. The book is clean, bright, solid, with black and white photographs. Related ephemera laid in. Very good copy of this book that offers a brief look at a China that no longer exists and the early years of the world's third largest economy.

Store description

Established in 1970. We specialize in Prairie Canadiana (Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta), Travel & Exploration, The North, and Aboriginal Peoples ("North American Indian"). Although these areas comprise the main sections in the store, they are by no means our only focus! We boast an impressive Literature section, a vast array of Art Books and Gallery Catalogues, a respectable offering of Science & Medicine titles, and drool-worthy cabinets of antiquarian tomes (of course). A member of the Antiquarian Booksellers Association of Canada (ABAC), the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers (ILAB), and the National Archival Appraisal Board of Canada (NAAB). We do appraisals, for insurance purposes, institutional, or otherwise. Open by chance or appointment. Feel free to call or email!…
