New York and London: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1960. 1960 edition. Black cloth with gilt spine lettering, 190 pages. The book is in good condition with fraying and rubbing just at the corners and spine ends, no additional edgewear, sound text block, good hinges, pencil erasure silhouette at front free endpaper, otherwise clean pages with no names or other markings. Adventures of two Virginia boys in the post-Civil War period, with dialogue in regional dialect. The boys explore the swamps and remaining plantations of the Tidewater area, "hunt for deserters" and interact with loyal black servants who remained after the war. Illustrated throughout with line drawings. Hard Cover. Good/No. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
