Add to basketTwo Ozark Rivers has become a perennial favorite among canoeists, hikers, and other outdoor enthusiasts. Now this remarkable portrait of the Current and the Jacks Fork Rivers, granted national-park status in 1964 as the Ozark National Scenic Riverways, is available for the first time in paperback. Oliver Schuchard's dramatic visual presentation and Steve Kohler's evocative description vividly interpret this unique region, where beauty, recreation, and relaxation are delightfully combined.
About the Photographer and Author
Oliver Schuchard has achieved a nationwide reputation as a landscape photographer. Having studied with Ansel Adams, Schuchard has been deeply influenced by Adams's vision of landscape, depicting subjects in both minute detail and panorama while giving equal force to both. His photographs have appeared in numerous books, most recently Exploring Missouri's Legacy: State Parks and Historic Sites (University of Missouri Press). A recent recipient of the Kemper Fellowship Award for Teaching Excellence, Schuchard is Professor of Art at the University of Missouri-Columbia.
Steve Kohler, a native Missourian, is a journalist and freelance writer who grew up floating and fishing the Current and Jacks Forks rivers as well as many other free-flowing Ozark streams. He lives in rural St. Francois County.
