Two Poets and a Squirrel: A Poetry Collection that Inspires, Connects, and Celebrates Multigenerational Bonding

If you want to connect to, laugh with, and encourage your child or grandchild, you want this book! Two Poets and a Squirrel is a collection of poems that spans 15 years of playful and poignant exchanges between a grandfather and his granddaughter, and will delight readers of all ages!

It began around the family dinner table, with grandparents, parents, and grandchildren, a weekly poetry “contest” between Grandpa Morris and his seven-year-old granddaughter, Olivia, and lots of laughs and applause, as Grandma Ruth “judged” the contest and Olivia always won! Through writing and sharing poetry, Grandpa Morris connected with his family and encouraged their love of poetry. After Grandma Ruth and Grandpa Morris moved to Florida, Olivia and Grandpa continued to write poems to each other. Distance could not stop them from connecting through their poetry.

This book captures the beauty of their intergenerational bond through words and wit. The authors have created a legacy of love and laughter, demonstrating how poetry can bridge generations and bring hearts closer together, regardless of physical distance. The authors make their message clear - We all have a poem inside of us that can be shared and bring us together, even across generations!

Readers will enjoy verses ranging from the whimsically silly to the creatively profound, infused with humor, creativity, and wisdom. The magic of these poems allows the child reading them to become a part of the story! The poems share what it feels like to grow up - to try! to be brave! to be funny (see what happens when Olivia finds her father's credit card!) and to be lonely (even in a room full of people) and, as the poet bravely speaks these feelings aloud, the child knows they are not alone.

Two Poets and a Squirrel generates conversation, erases generational boundaries, and shows us the power of poetry to connect, share, and bring joy. The poems encourage children to love poetry and to try their hand at freely expressing themselves. The authors provide space in the book for the reader to create and illustrate their own poems!

Join this grandfather and granddaughter duo on their poetic journey, and discover how you too can create a cherished collection of memories and shared experiences for the whole family!
