About this Item
12mo (13 cm) trade catalog, decorative red and silver gilt on brown wrappers. [24 pp.], numerous b&w illus., one ad. A delightful Bradley Company catalog of sulkies, etc. including the Single Road Cart, Park Carts, Two-Wheelers, Pericole Cart with Canopy, Bradley Cart Harness, Bradley Handy Wagon plus gear, with prices; an ad for other "manufactures' like the Helve Hammer, Mowers, Horse Rake, Truss Wheelbarrow and more. Established 1832, the introduction whimsically touts the variety of Bradley vehicles and their uses, such as "The owner of a trotter can speed him on the road or at the Driving Park with one of our 3 1/2 Carts, and be prepared to enjoy a 'friendly' brush at a second's notice without being obliged to own an expensive track wagon." Also, " In the larger cities, where pleasure-driving is indulged in to any extent, livery men have found an investment in either a No. 6 or 7 very profitable. Our illustration on page 17 is decidedly suggestive of the pleasures within the reach of the possessor of a Bradley Two-Wheeler, et cetera." Not in OCLC. CONDITION: wrappers detached (although still joined together), brittle with chipping and loss at the corners, 6 cm bumped corners on pp. 1-4, with crease throughout., a pink 3 x 10 cm. paper product-change notice is affixed on p. 9., content otherwise appealing.
