Small book is tight, square, relatively sharp-cornered and free of major flaws or markings other than the aforementioned fading to spine, general mild wear to boards, two gift inscriptions, the first to George Meay, Syracuse, 1870, and the second to the famous Boston minister, Dana Greeley, August 1921. Finally, a bookseller tag on the inside front cover, T.C. Edwards. Personal narrative of life at sea, orig pub anonymously in 1840. This edition includes the author's addition of "Twenty-four Years After," describing his "nostalgic return to California in 1859, an account of a visit to the old scenes made twenty four years later, together with notices of the subsequent story of the fate of the vessels and some of the persons whom the reader may be acquainted. No ads at rear, Preface to this New Edition is dated May 6, 1869.
