This book was one of their four entries in 1930 in the American Books Campaign to prove the quality of American bookmaking on a commercial basis. The other three being Melville's "Moby-Dick" illustrated by Rockwell Kent, Thoreau's "Walden" with the Rudolph Ruzicka's illustrations, and "Tales" by Edgar Allan Poe illustrated by W. A. Dwiggins. Each edition was limited to 1,000 copies. Edward A. Wilson designed this edition as well as illustrated it with 36 color plates or decorations. ix, 524 pp. 4to. Blue cloth boards with gold embossed decorative corners and three masted schooner on cover board, light tan buckram spine with gold embossed titling and decoration as well. Quite sharp. Top edge of text block gilt, other edges deckled. Clean and crisp within. Original heavy cardboard slipcase with applied title to spine with gold embossing; overall scuffing and wear, in Good condition. Seller Inventory # 31510
