Illustrated with engravings by Hans Alexander Mueller. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall., 342pp. Illustrated boards, green top edge. Name to free endpaper and otherwise, volume is in fine, unread condition. Housed in a green slipcase with very light shelf wear. A classic memoir by Richard Henry Dana Jr. detailing his 1834–1836 voyage from Boston to California as a common sailor. Dana, a Harvard student, documented the brutal realities, maritime labor, and California's early hide-trade industry, aiming to improve sailors' lives.
