Type 1 Diabetes Mental Health Workbook: A Practical Resource for Providing Behavioral and Mental Health Support to Young People With Type 1 Diabetes, and Their Families

This workbook is intended for mental health professionals working with children and adolescents who have Type 1 Diabetes. Topics covered include: Overview of T1D; Language and communication about T1D; Challenges associated with a new T1D diagnosis; Approaches to addressing T1D self-management challenges; Emotions associated with T1D; Mood concerns and T1D; T1D-related worries and anxiety.

Associate Professor and Director of Clinical Training in the Department of Clinical and Health Psychology at the University of Florida and the Director of Behavioral Science Research within its Diabetes Institute. She is also an Associate Professor, Adjunct at the University of Colorado’s Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes. She is an Associate Editor for Pediatric Diabetes and an editorial board member for Diabetes Care.

Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Psychology at Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, Texas, where she directs the Resilience and Diabetes (RAD) Behavioral Research Lab. She is an Associate Editor for Journal of Pediatric Psychology and an editorial board member for Clinical Practice in Pediatric Psychology, and she co-led the development and implementation of the American Diabetes Association’s Mental Health Diabetes Education Program.
