April 17th 1977 Soiling to envelope, light soiling to letter itself. Address embossed in envelope includes her inmate number from The California Institute for Women "Susan Atkins 8304-A 63 PTU Frontera, CA 91720" Letter addressed to 'Marty' asks forgiveness for taking a long time to respond. Atkins gives the name and address of a publishing company, Logos Publishing Company, as well as the names of some men; Dan Malachuk, the president. Jamie Buckingham, Atkins' editor. Bob Slosser, Atkins' writer. Atkins notes her deep dedication to the Christian faith and that she will pray for Marty and for everyone else who writes to her. Torn page has pictures of Susan Denise Adkins / Sadie Mae Glutz and Leslie Van Houton aka LuLu ATKINS, Susan (1948-2009), also known as "Sadie Mae Glutz," was a member of the Manson Family and one of the participants in the notorious 1969 murders directed by Charles Manson. Born in California, Atkins joined Manson's group in 1967 and became one of his most devoted followers. She took part in the murders at the home of Sharon Tate and others on August 8-9, 1969. Her admissions to fellow inmates helped investigators break the case. Convicted of murder and initially sentenced to death, her sentence was commuted to life imprisonment. While incarcerated, Atkins claimed to have renounced Manson and embraced Christianity. She remained in prison until her death from brain cancer in 2009. DATE PUBLISHED: 1977 EDITION: 5.…
