Pond writes that he has been ill, and is finishing a book he promised some time ago, but when it is done and he is "at liberty" he will "put in an appearance at the good old 'sporting sanctum' on Seventeenth St., ready to delve into the inviting volumes of the old Spirit of the Times, etc." Under the pen name of "Will Wildwood" Pond produced several sporting works; in 1879 he edited Frank Forester's Fugitive Sporting Sketches.
