Daziaro, [1860-1865?], oblong 8vo (109 x 165mm.), 22 albumen prints (each approximately 60 x 11mm.), mounted as cabinet cards in a concertina (leparello), original blue tooled linen covers with gilt lettering "Types Russes" in relief on front, "J. Daziaro, St Petersbourg Newsky, Moscou pont des Marecheaux" in black relief lettering on back, the photographs show Russian men and women dressed in traditional dress. In French handwritten on the back of each photograph the role of the depicted person: vendeuse de lait (milk seller), paysan en hiver (peasant in winter), ouvrier (worker), policeman, soldat circassien (soldier) etc. very good state of the binding and the photographs.22 photographs published by Joseph Daziaro/Giuseppe Kristofovich Daziaro (Pieve Tesino1805/6-St Petersburg 1865)was Russia's first private publisher of high-quality art printing products, merchant of the 2nd guild.Joseph Daziaro (1806-1865) came to the Russian Empire from Italy in the early 1820s. He opened a publishing business and specialized in the sale of lithograph prints. His firm can be called the first private publishing house of printed artistic graphics in Russia. By the beginning of the 1830s, he had 2 shops in Moscow. In 1849, he became the owner of a shop in St. Petersburg. Interesting and scarce collection of mid 19th century photographs from Russia.
