Alternatively they can be balls, either of some form of plasma, or metallic, giving off or reflecting light, and varying from the size of a tennis ball upwards.

About the Author

Martin Thomas obtained his PhD in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom. He then went to work in the UK Ministry of Defence as an experimental scientist, before transferring to the UK Home Office (the equivalent of the US Department of State), undertaking similar work.
