This work includes many different authors who offer their own perspectives of the arts and the influences of their respective arts in the field. All of them have expressed their ideas in a very different way. But whether expressed in the language of the teachers, the language of the students, or the language of the thinker, there is truth in concepts, philosophies and techniques that so many martial artists have believed and lived by for decades. In addition to being a resource for researches, writers, students and teachers, we hope this collection of works will provide comfort and inspiration for all those who love the Grappling arts. My hope is that this book of collective works and articles will prove a worthy companion to them in two main ways: first, in its size and scope; second in its practicality and ease of use.

There have been many changes in the martial arts but some things are still the same. A well-written article is one of them.
