Téa Smith and Leif Noble are on a terrifying, fantastical adventure. Not by choice. The two teens have nothing in common other than Jeremy, Leif’s younger brother and Téa’s best friend. The Nobles are rich, the Smiths are working middle class. It’s only when an offer from Jeremy exposes something else they have in common that the strange journey begins. The only way to stop it is for Téa and Leif to make a critical decision. Will they be able to put aside their differences to do what’s necessary?
Complicating things is Gate Williams – a friend who knows more than he lets on, and has an ulterior motive.

"I have just finished reading a novel by Kellee Kranendonk. It is called In The End. I found it very hard to stop once I started reading. It captured my attention all the way to the end. Although it is about a bunch of young kids trying to solve a complicated mystery, I found it to be a very interesting read and I am a senior. "In The End is a paranormal fantasy written for young adults but, indeed, a book that can be enjoyed just as much by a mature-ish reader like myself.
In The End will have you traverse through dream worlds and terrifying hellscapes as our main characters embark on an epic journey towards an inescapable destiny. And what a journey it is!
This book was an easy read for me. Whenever I say this, I always mean it as a compliment. I didn’t have to struggle or slog my way through it; I thought about it when I wasn’t reading it, it kept me turning pages and wanting to find out what exactly was going to happen.
In an effort to avoid a spoiler free review I will not go into a lot of detail about what happens but there are some great twists and turns, some fantastic world building, and a handful of really great, well written characters. The story, and the characters, are multifaceted, and the plot is unique and fresh.
The book does end on a bit of a cliffhanger but I do not mention that in a negative sense. In fact, I quite enjoyed that because now I can look forward to reading whatever comes next!" - Nicole
