Making Sociological Sense is an engaging anthology that introduces students to the field of sociology through exposure to the work of sociologists. Section 3 focuses on social institutions, presenting students with readings that discuss families, medical sociology, and religion. New to this edition, Section 4 broadens the scope of the content to include international topics and perspectives, including the world system, late-stage capitalism, and global health. Each reading is complemented by critical thinking questions, encouraging students to carefully consider and engage with the material.
For the second edition, most of the readings have been updated and all chapter introductions have been revised. New readings explore qualitative research interviews, gender, the structural features of choice, race and sport, the theory of world systems, and the delivery gap in distributing needed medicine around the world.
