The Importance of Believing in the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is an extract drawn from Qadi Iyad's renowned work al-Shifa. This volume centers on one of the most critical pillars of the Islamic faith: the obligation for Muslims to believe in the Prophethood of Muhammad ﷺ. In this volume, Qadi 'Iyad emphasizes that belief in the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is not a secondary aspect of faith, but a central and essential requirement for being a Muslim. Through numerous verses of the Qur'an and authentic hadith, this text discusses why belief in the Prophet ﷺ is indispensable to completing one's faith and entering Islam fully. It further explores the spiritual consequences of either accepting or rejecting this fundamental aspect of Islamic creed, and highlights the deep spiritual and practical significance of affirming the truth of the Prophet's ﷺ message.

The volume delves further into the obligations that stem from belief in the Prophet ﷺ, particularly the requirement to obey him and follow his Sunnah (traditions). It discusses how, in the Islamic tradition, obedience to the Prophet ﷺ is intrinsically linked to obedience to Allah Himself, as the Qur'an repeatedly pairs the two together. The book examines how the Prophet's ﷺ teachings, guidance, and example are meant to direct Muslims in every facet of life, from personal conduct and family relationships to societal and spiritual matters. It also demonstrates that belief in the Prophet ﷺ requires not only verbal affirmation but also deep internal conviction and action. Thus the outward declaration of faith (shahada) must be matched by an inner commitment to the teachings and example of the Prophet ﷺ, creating harmony between belief, words, and actions. This is the pathway to achieving true faith and spiritual success.

As one of a collection of curated extract volumes from Qadi 'Iyad's al-Shifa, this work offers readers a rich, accessible entry point into one of umma's most revered texts. Imam Ghazali Publishing ensures that this volume, like others in the series, is meticulously translated and designed to provide timeless wisdom to modern readers.

Al-Shifā bi Taʿrīf Ḥuqūq al-Muṣṭafā, directly translated as, 'The Remedy (or Cure) Through Recognizing the Rights of the Chosen One', is one of the most celebrated works in the genre of Shama'il. The Shifa deals with both the descriptions of the Prophet ﷺ, his station and his perfections, and with the rulings pertaining to one's belief and treatment of him ﷺ. It is exhaustive in its treatment of the subject, expounding on topics that range from Allah's praise of the Prophet ﷺ and his status and station before Him, to the obligation of loving him and what that entails. In short, the uniqueness of this work can be attributed to its holistic coverage of the Messenger ﷺ.
