This Book Is Expensive is not just poetry; it is an experience interwoven with poetic experimentation written and compiled in a way previously unseen. A visceral, unfiltered descent into the rawest corners of existence, grief, and mental illness intertwined with hopeful moments of joy and triumph.

Oliveri delivers a scathing and sentimental onslaught of unrelenting verse that cascades in the mind, unforgettable.

In this experimental poetry experience, bestselling novelist Nick Oliveri explores the delicate balance between suffering and survival, crafting lyrical meditations that unravel the complexities of loss, faith, and the human condition. With echoes of modern confessional poetry and the haunting introspection of dark poetry, Oliveri's words capture the weight of existential dread and the solace of nature.

Confoundingly so, in his poetic search for meaning, he ends up finding it at times throughout this narrative, a feat rare in exploratory literature. He celebrates humanity in his poetry, himself, the underprivileged, marginalized communities, and even satirizes the powers-that-be. He pokes fun at everyone, yet weaponizes some scathing diatribes when he deems fit in his dangerous verses.

This is poetry that dares you to feel the grief and ecstasy and rage of being alive as an immersive, thought-provoking journey through the beauty and brutality of living on this earth. At times, his poetry gets offensive, problematic, incisive, and even triggering for some readers. However, Oliveri's vituperations and youthful petulance come off as tasteful (and even funny). Though lovers of poetry, contemporary poetry, philosophical verse, and poetry about death, loss, and resilience are sure to be engrossed in every page, Oliveri's sentiments, cutting irreverence, and fun poetic wordplay will enchant general audiences who come across this work.
