Foreword by Ruben R. Puentedura, PhD

The question isn't whether AI will change education—it already has. The real question is whether we will use it to reinforce the status quo or to reimagine what learning can be.

Whether you're an enthusiast, a skeptic, or somewhere in between, AI Optimism offers a grounded, forward-thinking approach to educational technology that puts pedagogy before tools and student needs at the center of innovation. Using the SAMR model and full of real classroom examples and step-by-step guidance, this book shows educators how AI can amplify human creativity and judgment rather than replace them.

Yes, generative AI can grade quizzes and generate worksheets, but its true promise lies in its power to help us rethink what’s possible. AI Optimism is your invitation to join the ranks of the growing community of educators using AI to imagine a future for learning that’s richer, more inclusive, and more human.
