Kerry Langan's latest book, Worthy: Stories & Novellas, will resonate for those born at the tail end of the baby boom generation and the early years of Generation X. All will be able to relate, however, to the questions raised in this book: What makes us worthy? What do we strive for and what do we think we deserve? Langan understands the challenges faced during the formative years and young adulthood; she deftly creates characters who attempt to find their places in the world, whether it's a pre-school or college classroom, a summer camp or a fledgling cult. Children, adolescents, and adults endeavor to achieve special recognition, to stand out, make the grade, and they fear being left behind, made invisible. They learn that success can shift in shape, however, and sometimes losing is not the worst option-indeed can result in new insights, inviting new paths. This anthology will prompt readers to consider what they've strived for in their own lives, and whether personal definitions of success and failure have evolved as they've aged or remain rooted in the past.Kerry Langan is the author of three published short story collections: Only Beautiful & Other Stories, Live Your Life & Other Stories, and My Name Is Your Name & Other Stories.
