James P. "Jimmy" Raftery is a native of Queens, New York. He is a Veteran of the United States Coast Guard. He was appointed to the New York City Fire Department Bureau of Communications in April, 1997, and worked as a Dispatcher primarily in Manhattan and the Bronx. He is a recipient of the Chief O'Brien Award for his efforts on September 11th, 2001, and a Unit Citation for his efforts on his last day of his career, January 9th, 2022. At the time of his retirement in 2022, Jimmy was the senior Dispatcher on the Dispatch floor in the City of New York. He resides in Orange County, New York with his partner, Kristine, his stepson, Connor, daughter, Cassandra, and their pets.
