In 1892, a magician vanishes during a vault demonstration in Chicago.

In 1933, a thief attempts to crack a safe that was never meant to be opened.

In 1955, a cargo ship bound for Liverpool carries something in its hold that should not exist.

Across decades and continents, one thing connects them all: a seamless steel vault-unmarked, immovable, and disturbingly out of place.

Securis Movetur: A Tale for Long Evenings is a supernatural mystery told through three linked tales that span over sixty years. As folklorist and researcher Alistair Dunning investigates these events through historical records, interviews, and archival materials, he uncovers a disturbing pattern: the vault is not just a physical object-it may be a force with its own agenda.

Rooted in historical detail and inspired by the ghost stories of M.R. James, this novella blends slow-building horror, archival storytelling, and speculative mystery. With rich atmosphere and an escalating sense of unease, it's perfect for readers who enjoy literary supernatural fiction, folklore, and stories where past and present collide.

This is the first entry in The Dunning Cycle, an ongoing series of interconnected ghost stories following Alistair Dunning-a folklorist, reluctant investigator, and collector of things best left forgotten.

About the AuthorJohn M. Knight is a writer, technologist, and lifelong collector of ghost stories, folklore, and forgotten lore. His fiction combines a love of atmospheric horror with world-building and archival curiosity.Securis Movetur is his first book and the opening entry in the Dunning Cycle-a series of Jamesian tales connected by a shared narrator and a larger, unfolding mystery.
