Model United Nations: Building Essential Skills for MUN and Beyond provides a comprehensive overview of Model United Nations (MUN), focusing on active learning principles and the development of career skills such as working in teams, interpersonal communication, problem-solving, leadership, and conflict resolution. The text emphasizes MUN as a transformative experience that enhances academic learning, fosters a sense of global citizenship, and sharpens skills essential for professional success.

The book approaches MUN holistically from a practitioner's point of view. In it, the authors, each of whom bring a diverse wealth of experience teaching and training MUN delegates, discuss the purpose of the United Nations and the principles of diplomacy to inform the MUN simulation experience. The book guides students through the full process from researching and understanding their committee, country, and the topics at hand to mastering the art of the position paper, resolution writing, and speech delivery. It promotes an understanding of MUN as part of a larger picture, where learning, political action, and professional development converge.

Multidisciplinary in nature, Model United Nations is ideal for courses and programs that focus on understanding global issues, international relations, and skill development.
