They are burned. Beaten. Boiled. ALIVE. And the world scrolls past.
This book is not fiction. It's not folklore. It's not exaggerated. This is Yulin.
Where dogs are nothing but objects. Where agony is culture. Where myths triumph over morality. Where cruelty and suffering are glorified. Where hope is muzzled and silence is the most accepted language.
Every June, up to 15,000 dogs are stolen from homes, crammed into rusted cages, tortured and boiled alive in the Yulin Dog Meat Festival in China.
Many still wear collars. Many are still alive when the pot begins to boil. They say it makes the meat "powerful."
This book is not for comfort. It's a protest in print. It's not for applause. It is a cry.
For the dogs who tried to crawl out and were hammered back in. This is for them. And for the ones who pretended to care or looked away.
