The Architecture of Unmaking is a science fiction story cycle: fifteen connected stories and an epilogue, arranged in five cycles that span the collapse and the civilizations that grew out of it. Each story stands on its own. Read in order, they form a single future history, and the epilogue is the key that unlocks what came before it. The print edition includes sixteen full-page illustrations, one opening each story.

This is not a straight-ahead plot, and it does not pretend to be. The prose is dense and the ideas are complex. Readers who want speculative fiction that asks something of them have called it a masterpiece. Readers who want easy entertainment should look elsewhere.
