The Sidemount Diving book is the first and only almost comprehensive guide to everything sidemount. Ten years after the release of its first edition, this 3rd edition delves even deeper into the subject. Authored by Rob Neto, cave diver & explorer, with more than 20 years of experience diving sidemount all over the world in various conditions and using different sidemount rigs, this book covers several configurations, sidemount systems, how to choose what works best for you, the skills necessary to learn and dive sidemount, and step by step instructions on how to build your own harness! More than 300 pages of information including hundreds of photographs, many by the world-renowned photographer, Laurent Miroult.

This book should be used by divers interested in beginning their venture into sidemount as well as the experienced sidemount diver. It's a great supplement for instructors to incorporate into sidemount classes.

Not much has changed in the world of sidemount diving since the 2nd edition was published in 2020. The 3rd edition is mainly a cleanup of the 2nd edition with a few additional topics based on changes that have occurred since the 2nd edition was first published. Rob Neto has been sidemount diving since the mid-2000s. He began diving sidemount while living in Arizona after having seen it during one of his cave diving trips to Florida. He was intrigued with it and built his first sidemount rig from a single tank harness and wing he had and went diving. Like everything else he has done with diving, it just took off from there. Over the years he has experimented with various methods and sidemount rigs and currently uses three different sidemount rigs depending on the diving he is doing.Rob currently lives in Greenwood, Florida, located in Jackson County, just minutes from some of the best cave diving in Florida. He dives sidemount exclusively even when traveling on recreational dive trips. He is an avid cave diver and cave explorer. He has done exploration in Florida, Mexico, and France and is currently active in several projects. Much of the exploration he does involves sidemount cave passage and he has even broken a stainless steel belt buckle going through a small, two bottle off restriction!Rob has extensive experience diving both steel and aluminum cylinders, using multiple stage cylinders, and sidemounting his rebreather bailout cylinders. He taught sidemount, cave diving, and technical diving for more than 10 years before retiring to focus on cave exploration and enjoying life. Rob is the author of the Beyond thriller series and two true adventure series about his cave diving explorations in Florida and Cozumel, Mexico.
