UNKNOWN

The bombs have fallen, the skies are quiet, and survival has become the only measure of life left. In the ruins of the old world, fragments of families and strangers cling to each other inside community centers, underground shelters, and makeshift camps-each one haunted by memories of what was lost and questions about what waits outside the fences.

Charles Moore clings to hope as he journals through long nights in the guarded compound, watching his wife Kristen and daughter Michelle try to carve moments of normalcy among the chaos. Rick tends to Paula as she recovers from her gunshot wound, their children caught between innocence and the heavy truths of survival. Conner and Jasmine wrestle with injury, grief, and the gnawing silence about their families, while Shane and Josh form an uneasy bond that balances loyalty with a shared distrust of the soldiers holding them inside the fences.

But safety in this new world comes with chains. Promises of protection mask the quiet feeling of imprisonment, weapons are taken, and rumors twist through the camp like smoke. Some cling to the comfort of rations and routine, while others are already preparing for the day, they will have to fight their way free.

Meanwhile, far beneath the surface, Greg, Lori, Craig, Shelly, Jeff, and their families endure a different kind of captivity. Buried alive in an underground shelter, the air grows heavy, food dwindles, and tempers sharpen in the darkness. Hope flickers as Greg and Jeff prepare to break the surface, knowing the world above may hold salvation-or doom.

Scattered across these fractured groups, old friends are missed, new alliances are tested, and the line between protector and prisoner blurs with each passing day. In a world where silence can be as deadly as gunfire, one truth remains: survival is never free.

Darkness Volume Four: New Friends, Old Friends, No Friends continues Jason R. Cash's harrowing saga, weaving together lives bound by tragedy, loyalty, and the desperate search for freedom. Every bond will be tested, every promise questioned, and every choice will carve the path between life and death.
