Life gets awkward when two strangers discover their best investment in love is the one they made on impulse when they married each other.

Being an internationally renowned associate professor of economics is great, but Piper Yeats is burnt out and needs a break. When she slams down on the big red I quit button, her boss refuses her resignation. Driven by responsibility, she agrees instead to return in the spring after a short hiatus from teaching.
On an outing in the woods with her best friend to clear their heads, a rogue soccer ball directs her like a sign from the universe to Thad Cosimo. Even his jersey is labeled Best Man. Their first touch jump-starts her pulse, and she can’t get him out of her head. This can’t be real. Love at first sight isn’t a thing, and there’s no time to deal with dating.
So they don’t. They elope, vowing to figure everything out as they go and agreeing to keep the marriage a secret. The deeper she falls for Thad, a fellow workaholic, the harder it is to not announce their relationship to the world.
Piper and Thad’s spontaneous romance must withstand the cracks to their plan from the building pressures of reality—unless their marriage was meant to remain the best worst-kept secret.

Beck Erixson writes about the beautifully awkward world of navigating the journey to true happiness through friendships, love, and family-be it blood, found, or chosen. Her stories enhance the importance of positive interconnection, even when we feel lonely. She lives at the Jersey Shore and can often be found either writing by the river, or in it in some way.
