When a family’s secret is unearthed, the sisters’ lives are forever changed.

Emily Martin is a successful lawyer, four years into her job as an associate with the law firm of Blaine, Wright & Cooper, when, one night, both her career and family life are sent into a tailspin.

She and her older sisters, Frankie and Louisa, both already dealing with challenges in their own lives, must decide whether to approach their mother, Gemma, who is dying from cancer in a nearby hospital room, about the old family secret that Emily has uncovered, or risk the truth being lost when Gemma dies.

Frankie has her own secret that has left her riddled with anxiety for years—she knows she is running out of time with her mother to make her confession.

The Three Sisters delves into the individual and shared family histories of the women through flashbacks interspersed throughout the novel that connect the past with the present.

Funny and deeply moving, the novel brings together its main characters, both imperfect and endearing, in unexpected ways, and explores the damage caused by secrets and shame, the heaviness of grief, and the joys and struggles of family relationships.
