In this breathtakingly sweeping Be Manaful Series continuation, the Secret Club takes steps to protect themselves from Lapu, who can now become visible with his essence. They try to help with Elder Council plans but everything comes to a stop when danger comes in the form of Lapu and Ejad. Charmaine, the New Elder Prime doubles down on the hunt for Ejad. She and Maka corner Uli's Merchant Ring, which is how Ejad exerts influence across Hopohopo townships on behalf of Lapu. Both Charmaine and Maka desire vengeance and vow to smoke Ejad out of hiding. Back on Earth, Malie faces self-doubt and finds solace by sharing experiences with adults and Nicole. Nicole starts her legal studies, considering an internship with the Uncle Nic. The Secret Club acquires two new friends, Kona and Honi. Pierre welcomes his baby sister but his joy is quickly dampened when the star athlete is forced to deal with underhanded school bullying after his sexual orientation is found out and gossip spreads like wildfire.
Meanwhile the narrators on Earth race their own challenges in life, reflecting growth akin to the characters that inspire them and us all. Ari and Aunt Ellie continue storytelling during their visits but Ari is becoming distracted with two things: puberty and her "absent parents". Aunt Ellie resigns to the responsibility (kuleana) and deals with it: talk Ari through her menstruation and body changes, talk with Ari's mom, bring the three ladies together, and make her ʻohana wholesome again. It works out and Aunt Ellie ends up with an audience of three at the end to wrap the 'second part' of the story she is writing, getting Hoku to admit her stories aren't that 'silly' after all.
