THE UNSPELLING OF WORDS: Random Thoughts and Poems

We use letters to spell words to write letters and spells. This is a collection of words, random thoughts and poems over fifty years.

The Unspelling of Words: Random Thoughts and Poems is a 2026 collection by Alun Buffry, published by ABeFree Publishing. It is a 210-page paperback, ISBN 9781919212968.

From the available descriptions, the book is best understood as a personal, eclectic collection of writing rather than a conventional narrative or single-topic book. The subtitle, Random Thoughts and Poems, is quite literal: it brings together thoughts, observations, and poetry gathered over a long period. One bookseller's description characterizes it as a collection of words, random thoughts, and poems spanning over fifty years.

What makes the title interesting

The phrase "Unspelling of Words" seems to play on the idea that words can be both spelled and "spells"—suggesting a playful or philosophical interest in how language shapes thought and perception. Based on the book's description, I would expect it to appeal more to readers who enjoy free-ranging reflections, poetry, wordplay, and personal observations than to someone looking for a tightly structured argument or story.
