Under Their Own Vine & Fig Tree: A Biblical Defense of America

THE BIBLE IS RICH WITH LESSONS FOR AMERICAN POLITICS-lessons that were firmly embraced within the American Founding. But the competing values of today's modern progressive movement threaten to dismantle that Biblically faithful foundation. Under Their Own Vine & Fig Tree invites Americans to rediscover and recommit to the Biblically based principles for politics within our nation's birth story.

Under Their Own Vine & Fig Tree gives a novel perspective on two colossal and counteracting tides in American politics-the classical liberalism of the American Founding and the modern progressivism of America's 20th and 21st centuries. Beginning with a Scriptural fundament, lessons for politics in a pluralistic society are identified and then compared to the tenets of these two competing camps. Throughout this captivating analysis, Dr. Boone does not merely tell readers what the authors of Scripture, the American Founders, and modern progressives think and believe in regard to politics-he shows readers these individuals' thoughts and beliefs.

Wisdom from the leading figures of America's founding generation is brought to life through carefully curated excerpts of their writings and speeches. These perspectives are juxtaposed to the words and actions of modern progressives over America's past half-century. By measuring both groups to the eternal truths of God's Word, readers will gain solid footing for a Biblically based approach to American politics. Insightful and difficult to put down, Under Their Own Vine & Fig Tree is a powerful but approachable meld of Christian theology, historical analysis and contemporary political commentary. It offers a coherent approach to faith and politics in American life that is sure to bless both religious and civic-minded readers alike.
