From the publisher's blurb, "This third edition of Understanding Human Rights has been elaborated by the European Training and Research Center for Human Rights and Democracy (ETC) in Graz, originally for the Human Security Network (HSN) at the initiative of the Austrian Ministry for Foreign Affairs. The objective is to assist human rights education efforts worldwide. The book's thematic modules on selected human rights issues cover topics such the prohibition of torture, freedom from poverty, human rights of women and children, human rights in armed conflict, freedom of expression, and democracy. New to this updated edition are chapters reflecting current trends in human rights, including new modules on privacy (such as challenges posed by Internet use), minority rights, and the right to asylum. Translations of the earlier editions already exist in 15 languages, among them all the official United Nations languages. Understanding Human Rights has become a basic text for human rights education and training in different countries, on different levels, and for different audiences, from university lectures in China to NGO training in Mali to police training in Kosovo." Store description
Member, I.O.B.A. (the Independent On-line Booksellers Association) "Structure" versus "Agency." A phrase that has characterized much social-scientific debate. Does “structure” (the routinized regulations of kinship and marriage, work and reproduction, of race, class and gender) determine history, or is it the “agency” of fully conscious, independently acting, individuals? Structure, Verses, Agency Books isn’t going to solve the debate, but we’ll offer you lots of all three. Versus to verses—we specialize in fine, rare and collectible books, from the fine arts to the social sciences, from poetry to photography, from literature and ethnography to fine bindings and Americana. Structure, Verses, Agency Books…

Terms of sale
I've done my best to state clearly and truthfully the condition of each and
every book I have listed on-line. Sometimes, however, books change condition
insofar as they sit on the shelf for a long time, get moved by customers, get
taken to and from book fairs, and so on. If for some reason you don't like your
purchase or it arrives somehow damaged, or if it doesn't get to you at all, you
might be eligible for a refund within 30 days of the estimated delivery date.
If you've changed your mind about a book that you've ordered, please contact
me or use the "Ask bookseller a question" link to contact me and I'll respond
within two business days.

long, etc.), I may contact you to let you know that extra shipping is
required. Bubble mailers and boxes will be expertly and securely wrapped and
monitored. Please contact us if there is anything extra or different you need us to do.
