Understanding Structural Equation Modeling: A Manual for Researchers (Synthesis Lectures on Mathematics & Statistics)

This book presents a comprehensive overview of Structural Equation Modeling and how it can be applied to address research issues in different disciplines. The book reviews topics such as variance, covariance, correlation, multiple regression, mediation, moderation, path analysis, and confirmatory factor analysis. The authors then discuss the initial steps for performing structural equation modeling, including model specification, model identification, model estimation, model testing, and model modification. The book includes an introduction to the IBM SPSS and IBM SPSS Amos software. The authors the explain how this software can be utilized for developing measurement, structural models, and SEM models. The book provides conceptual clarity in understanding the models and discusses practical approaches to solving them. The authors also highlight how these techniques can be applied to various disciplines, including psychology, education,sociology, business, medicine, political science, and biological sciences.

J.P. Verma, Ph.D., is the Vice Chancellor of Sri Sri Aniruddhadeva Sports University of Assam. He received his Ph.D. from the Department of Mathematics of Jiwaji University. He was previously a faculty member at Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education (LNIPE) for 38 years. He served in several positions while at LNIPE, including  I/c Vice Chancellor, Head of the Department of Sports Psychology, Dean of Student Welfare, Director of the Centre for Advanced Studies, and Member of the Board of Management. One of his main research interests is sports statistics, which  aims to bring the rigor of research methodology to sports and physical education.  Priyam Verma, Ph.D., is a post-doctoral fellow at the Aix-Marseille School of Economics. He received his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Houston. He was previously an Instructor, Teaching Assistant, and Research Assistant  at the University of Houston. He was also the recipient of Dr. Walter J. Primeaux Jr. and Natalie A. Primeaux Scholarship awarded for most promising dissertation work in the 4th year. His primary research interests are macroeconomics, growth, trade, and geography.
